José Manuel Eizaguirre (1862-1930), a qualified journalist for the newspaper La Prensa in Buenos Aires, manifested his historical vocation in the generation of the many texts that he would edit: La Patria (1892), La Bandera Argentina (1900), The past in the present (1924), How the Argentine country was formed (1927) and Where is the town (1929) the year before his death. He joined La Prensa in 1900 and culminated his successful career as the newspaper's chief editorialist. He also had his historical training when he served as Bartolomé Mitre's secretary. It is probable that his fame reached him with the edition of this book on Córdoba where he shows his capacity for analysis under the effect of some supposed letters that allow the cultural and social profiles of the province to be broken down. A historical development that organizes the stage where politics, education, religion, arts and science unfold in a pleasant and circumstantial way, intertwining daily life with these various manifestations.
